Ukraine: 169k births registered in 2025, 38% fewer than in 2021
These are civil registry records on government-controlled territory; children born abroad are not included. Births were already falling 7.3% a year in 2016–2021: at that pace there would have been about 202k; the registered count was 17% below that path. Millions leaving the country and the occupation of part of it both weigh on the count.
