Colombia: more electricity, 35% lower power-sector emissions
2024 → 2025: generation rose 2%. Clean power's share rose from 61% to 76%. 2025 is an Ember estimate.

Lower emissions need not mean less electricity. The generation mix changed in this year. The longer chart also shows the preceding emissions increase.
Both lines: 2024 = 100. The chart compares relative changes, not tonnes and terawatt-hours on one scale. All six annual points remain, including the rise in emissions before 2024.

- Electricity generation TWh per year
2025: 90.98

2024: 61.34

2025: 76.46
Generation: 89.14 → 90.98 TWh, up 2.06%. Estimated emissions: 26.593 → 17.297 Mt CO₂e, down 34.96%. Change = (end / start − 1) × 100. Checked against Ember's annual source table.
Power-generation emissions, not the whole economy; CO₂-equivalent includes other greenhouse gases. Ember applies emission factors to generation sources and estimates 2025 from monthly data. Clean power includes hydro, wind, solar, bioenergy and nuclear. A rebound after high 2024 emissions does not establish a lasting decline. This calculation does not isolate a causal temperature or drought effect.
A question for this picture
Will the result persist under different water levels and electricity demand?
